Login and connection issues with SafeCom 2 Port Controller after Xerox Base Firmware upgrade

Nuance were made aware in April 2015 of customers having login and connection issues with SafeCom 2 Port controllers on Xerox MFD's.

We subsequently found out the MFD's had been upgraded to a new version of Xerox base firmware.

This firmware disabled SSL v3 and instead uses TLS.

Unfortunately the SafeCom 2 Port Controller does not support TLS and there is no plan to support TLS.

Therefore the two options to resolve the issue are to either downgrade the Xerox base firmware to a version that supports SSL v3 or switch to SafeCom Device Server, which supports TLS.

Please work with Nuance Sales if switching to Device Server as additional licensing may be required.

These are the Xerox devices and firmware versions known to show symptoms of the issue -
