# Is SafeCom device server dependent on Java? (FAQs)

## SafeCom device server is dependent on a java runtime environment. Up until version 090\*12 Sun / Oracle Java SDK was used. From version 090\*12 Amazon Coretto is used as the java environment.

SafeCom device server is dependent on a java runtime environment. Up until version 090\*12 Sun / Oracle Java SDK was used. From version 090\*12 Amazon Coretto is used as the java environment.

If you have an older version of SafeCom device server and no longer want to use Sun / Oracle Java runtime, we suggest you upgrade the SafeCom device server.
